Circa 1200-1500 AD. Magnetite. Anthropic Zemi with exceptionally large head. The mouth has a substantial set of teeth and the nose is unusually pointed. Headband decorated with alternating triangles. There is a decorative collar on the neck. Arms emerge from a thick embossed band on the lower portion of the front cone. Elaborate wings are engraved on either side of the cone. The legs arch with a perforation defining the arch. The base is concave and polished. 6 3/4″ high x 5″ wide x 10 3/4″ long. From the estate of Dr. Robert Woodruff, former president of Entomology at the University of Florida who studied insects in the Dominican Republic for 40 years, while there collecting Taino art, amber and Larimer.
