Circa 600-1500 AD. A large shaman head zemi indicated by a bat like nose. Heavy eye surrounds and bulging teeth adds to the mystical persona. A type 5 zemi. This may have represented a prominent shaman or shaman leader. The base is concave, pecked and polished. The selection of quartz as the sculpting material suggests the subject was of elite status as quartz is difficult to carve. 4″ h x 8″ x 4 1/2″ w. Good overall condition.
