Circa 600-1550 AD. Basalt-like hard stone. Extraordinary and huge double-sided incised anthropic ax. Same figure on back (mirrored imagery). Large elaborate head band, bird head swirls on chest with hands resting passively on the knees. A subtle smile, the symbol of peace and unity among the Taino. A fantastic ax, possibly the longest petaloid shaped ax known. 4 1/2″ wide x 17″ long. Former Roberts collection.
