Rhode Island chest of drawers. Mid-18th century. A (6) drawer chest in the Queen Anne or Baroque style. The case is tiger maple primary wood and chestnut secondary. Dovetailed case has its original surface and brass hardware. 43 1/4″ high by 38″ wide, 36″ case, 18 1/5″ overall depth. Some staining and splits to top and sides. Rear bracket foot on right side shows loss. Rear bracket feet are possibly 19th-century replacements. Wear consistent with age and use. Provenance: Descended in Brenton family of Newport, Rhode Island.
