Rare Herreshoff Yacht Trophy. Dated September 5, 1903. A three-handled copper, pewter, and glass bottom trophy made by Manning and Co. An inscription reads: Bristol Yacht Club Sept 5, 1903 cup given by Nathaniel G. Herreshoff. First Prize, Sakonnet, One Design Class, Won by Bazoo, Leeds Burchard. 7″ high by 7″ wide by 5″ diameter. Some minor pitting and wear. Nathanael Greene Herreshoff was a world-renowned sailor, naval architect, and yacht designer from Bristol, Rhode Island. He designed six yachts that went on to win the America’s Cup.
