Exotic hardwood sea chest. 19th-century. It is a lift top with British ship under sail painted on the underside of the lid. Fish shaped escutcheon. Brass bound and dovetail constructed box. Contains American flag, Union Jack, sexton, brass binoculars, a Bosun whistle, a faux scrimshaw tusk. Several wooden and brass tools. A German pipe. The name John Lindsay and a brass plaque reading the old homestead. Brass lock signed James Williams, Birmingham. Sea chest 15 3/4″ high by 34 1/2″ wide by 18″ deep.
