Ca. 1960s – 70s. (2) Torch-cut welded and chased steel cubes. Made in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti of recycled steel drums. Typical of Haitian folk art, these cubes feature lions, birds, foliage, horses and people. Signed: JN P. Bernard. These pieces were acquired by Harvey Probber Furniture directly from the artist in Haiti. Later they were acquired by the consignor from the Harvey Probber factory in Fall River, Mass. upon its closure. Each 15″ x 15″ x 15″. Good condition.
