strong tiger maple stock, early 19th c, engraved brass, barrel marked H. Gibbs, also signed Ashmore Warranted Lock, made by Henry Gibbs, died 1843. Lancaster, PA. Mounted with Ashmore lock. Comes with early receipt from Joe Kindig & Son Antiques, dated 1961. 51” long, stock shows several areas of old repair, old finish. Along with a powder horn, dated June 4, 1710, engraved floral design. Listed in Grancsay book #997, also purchased from Joe Kindig, Jr. & Son, 10 1/2” long. Both come with old receipts including original receipt from Joe Kindig Jr & Son, August 1962 and books titled, “The Kentucky Rifle” by John G. W. Dillin, with original slip case, “Berk’s County Long Rifles and Gun Makers, 1750-1900” by Patrick Hornberger, and “Artistic Ingredients of the Long Rifle” by Joe Kindig III.
