After a painting by W. Joy. Titled “The Pirate Defeated”. Published in London 1836 R. Ackermann. Engraved by Duncan. Depicting the British Ship Netuno commanded by MRB Crawford taking the prize of the pirate ship Carolina. Sight size: 15 1/2″ high x 20″ wide. In a modern gold frame measuring 27 1/2″ high x 32″ wide. Shows tanning to the paper. Has not been removed from the frame. Provenance: From the estate of Alan Gaines of A & A Gaines Antiques, Newport, Rhode Island.
