Elmer O. Stennes Shelf Clock. 20th century. Mahogany shelf clock made in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Weight driven, brass eagle finial, shaped crest fretwork, painted and gilt dial, veneered base with French feet. The case is stamped, M.C.I.P. (Massachusetts Correctional Institute Plymouth) 39″ high x 13 1/4″ wide x 6″ deep. Shows cracking to veneer on front. Stennes was famous for reproducing classic American clocks from 1940 to 1970. He is also known for murdering his wife and subsequently committing suicide.
