Description

18th/19th century. Bovine. To include: A) Carved scene of figure with a sword, horse, steer and wild dog. Has what appears to be a Scottish coat of arms with a cross, shield and castle. On the reverse it has a male figure and a raven. 10″ long x 3 1/2″ wide at base. In good condition with age appropriate wear. Missing stopper. B) Raised carved floral design. Brass mechanical plug. 10″ long x 2 1/2″ wide at base. Overall good condition. C) Carved floral design with silver mounts. Engraved on base: “Jimmy Curran”. 11″ long x 3″ wide at base. D) Carved scene with an eagle with a crown, castle, horse and other animals. Brass mounts. 8″ long x 2″ at base. Good condition but missing stopper. E) Carved design depicting Mexican eagle with snake, horses and fern design. 10″ long x 3 1/4″ wide at base. Good condition, shows a little wear and slight cracking at base plus a small hole on one side likely where there was a pin. Provenance: From the estate of Alan Gaines of A & A Gaines Antiques, Newport, Rhode Island.
